Mumbai Railway Police Launch 'Zero Death Mission' at Andheri Station with Yama-Themed Safety Campaign

Mumbai Railway Police launched the "Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan (Zero Death Mission)" at Andheri Railway Station, with officers dressed as Yama to warn commuters against crossing railway tracks. The campaign used posters, announcements, and live demonstrations to promote safe travel, urging passengers to use foot overbridges and contact the GRP helpline 1512 during emergencies.

Mumbai's suburban railway network, widely regarded as the city's lifeline, carries millions of passengers every day. Despite repeated warnings, incidents involving people crossing railway tracks or attempting to board moving trains continue to pose a serious threat to public safety. Such acts of negligence frequently result in fatal accidents, prompting authorities to intensify awareness efforts.

In an initiative aimed at preventing such tragedies, the Railway Police at Andheri Railway Station launched a unique public awareness drive titled "Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan (Zero Death Mission)." As part of the campaign, police personnel dressed as Yama, the symbolic deity representing death in Indian mythology, to deliver a powerful message about the dangers of trespassing on railway tracks.

The campaign was conducted on Wednesday, July 22, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Platforms 2 and 3 serving trains towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at Andheri Railway Station. Through the symbolic portrayal, the Railway Police urged passengers to avoid crossing railway tracks under any circumstances and to use only the designated foot overbridge for safe movement within the station.

During the awareness drive, police personnel repeatedly conveyed the message that passengers must never cross railway tracks and should always use the foot overbridge. The initiative, launched with the objective of reducing accidents caused by track crossing, witnessed participation from a large number of commuters, who also pledged to prioritize safe travel and follow railway safety regulations.

Officials appealed to all commuters to strictly follow railway safety rules and make safe travel their highest priority.

The campaign underscores the Railway Police's continued commitment to reducing preventable railway accidents and promoting a culture of responsible and safe commuting across Mumbai's suburban rail network.
